My name is Clara. I’m 17 years old. I live in London City. I love art. Art is everything I do and ever want to do. I’m studying it currently, alongside English Lit. and Philosophy. I would love to become an Artist and am not sure what field to go into yet, but I currently have a big passion for illustration. I also want to start learning animation in my own time once I’ve finished school, which is very soon now, in a few weeks. Some people choose to call me an artist already and I do sell, but I feel, that to really dub yourself that, you’ve really got to master something first. So I’m learning the trade and trying to master what I want to be and do.

I take inspiration from surrealists such as Dali and Magritte, and a lot of online artists too. Online art is my home and I’ve come across a lot of internet culture and groups which have also inspired me. DeviantART is where I started. You’re probably going to see a lot of animals in my gallery. I’m big on animals. I’m also big on teeth, gums, grins, wet noses and anything muzzley and animalistic. I do enjoy art from the furry fandom, and you might see a few pieces in here also inspired by that. I do like to create characters. Fruize is my most frequently featured; a yellow / pink hippy deer from big forests. I just got an instagram recently and have been using that to take photos. Now you can see more process shots.

You’ll also find a few links relating to something called ‘Jackadaw’. Jackadaw is something I had the best time making. It’s a book, which I illustrated and wrote last summer, and continued into the following fall. I used to tell people it’s a children’s book, but I realised it wasn’t that anymore. In a sense, it’s a book I wrote for down people, or for people who need a pick-me-up. I wrote it for anyone who feels sad and needs to read something to make them feel better, because the words in those book, are exactly the words I would have liked to read for myself, if I were feeling down.

The book is also entitled to a girl called ‘Willow’. WIllow is the daughter of Sophie and Tim, some family friends from up in the black mountains. I also partly imagined the name Willow, as pertaining not only to her, but yourself as a child, or the child in you. You can read it though, and take and interpret from it, whatever you like.
